The 9

Nine   •   9

Neuf - Nueve - Dokuz - Devet - Εννιά

The
second perfect number in the first decade. The nine muses. The triple
triad, completion, fulfillment, beginning and end, the whole thing, the
earthly paradise. From a numerological point of view the nine is a
particularly interesting number: as the sum of a multi-digit number,
that contains a nine, is always the sum of the remaining figures
(Example: 199 = 19 = 10 = 1), i.e. when calculating the sum, one can
strip all nines.

Also, 9 is
the only number whose multiplication results have always 9 as their sum
of digits. This number always remains itself. Zeus' Deucalion's flood
lasted nine days and nine nights and erased the first mankind – only
Deukalion and Phyrra survived. According to the current state of
science our solar system has nine planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars,
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. The human pregnancy lasts 9
months.
